 About our Association

[Greetings from President]
The Toyama Prefectural Artistic and Cultural Association
     President Akira Kinoshita

Inauguration greetings
At the General Meeting and the Board of Directors on June 10, 2020, I was selected as the President of the Toyama Prefectural Artistic and Cultural Association.
I am deeply grateful for the confidence I received during this time, and for the many heartfelt words, I received from Japan and overseas.
Although I lack learning ability, I would like to connect the ideas and activities of our Association to the future with everybody’s cooperation.
Since 2001, as an editorial board member of the “Geibun Toyama” issue, I have learned a lot through interviews with artists and gathering materials about events.
Six years ago, it was a great pleasure to become the editorial chairman of the “Toyama Bungaku” issue, honored wonderful works at the “Toyama Literature Award”, and widely introduce the achievements of our predecessors in the special issue of the magazine.
This year, artistic and cultural activities are facing great difficulties due to the global situation of the new coronavirus. I believe that this year we will make steady progress and build up our strength for the future.
In 2021, the “TOYAMA World Festival of Children’s Theatre” is scheduled, and our Association will celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Since its founding, our Association has gathered the passion of many people and has grown over the years, overcoming various challenges, and its wonderful activities have shined in various ways. I would like to express our deepest respect for these many achievements and prepare carefully for the coming the next 50 years.
I would be grateful for your continued understanding and cooperation.
(June 2020)

[History]
The Toyama Prefectural Artistic and Cultural Association launched, on October 30, 1972, including fine arts, performing arts, life culture, literature, and so on. Groups of each artistic field became a permanent organization for arts and culture projects in cooperation with each field throughout the year, not only at the prefectural art festivals. Executives and members are composed only of writers, artists, and appreciators, and expand their activities as groups independent of the administration.
